In October 2004, UAS Ketchikan was awarded a 5-year United States Department of Education Development Grant (Title III).

The goal of the five year project is to improve the participation and success of rural and Native Alaskans in post-secondary education. UAS Ketchikan is developing and implementing a comprehensive system of student support services for students on Annette and Prince of Wales Islands.
