When Should I See My Advisor?
To select courses during registration
To add, drop, or withdraw from a class
To discuss your academic progress
To declare or change your major
To discuss degree requirements
To put together an extended plan of courses for upcoming semesters
To discuss problems which affect your academic performance
To prepare for graduation
While you are a student at UAS, there are times when it is vital that you see your academic advisor. Throughout your academic career, you will discuss your academic progress and career considerations. Difficulties that affect your academic performance should also be discussed. Your academic advisor can often help you resolve problems or direct you to appropriate resources on campus. Please do not wait for "things" to get better before you see your advisor.
Your relationship with your academic advisor is very important and can many times determine your success as a student. It is your responsibility as a student to initiate contact. In order to cultivate that relationship, it is very important that you keep all appointments, follow through on referrals, and when a problem arises, make contact with your academic advisor in a timely manner.
