Certified Nurses Aide Training
Each semester, UAS Ketchikan offers a 10-week Certified Nurses Aide Training course. An application is available approximately 6-8 weeks before the start of the course. Students must submit all required forms and have appropriate paperwork, including a state background check, fingerprints, passport photo, physical and proof of immunization (including a recent blood test - titers - indicating full immunity). The cost of these additional tests and requirements are the student's responsibility and not included in the cost of the course. The course is designed to run for ten weeks, with classes scheduled twice a week for full days (8:00am - 4:30pm). The first six weeks are spent in classroom, learning the skills and vocabulary necessary to be a successful CNA. The following four weeks are spent in local health care agencies in 'clinicals' applying the classroom knowledge. A student must achieve a 'C' or better in the classroom setting to pass to the clinical portion of the class. Contact us at (907) 228-4537 for more information.
