This intermediate level welding techniques course focuses on shielded metal arc welding - SMAW, plasma arc cutting, oxygen-acetylene cutting, and metal grinding. Students will develop intermediate welding skills including gas metal arc welding using flux core and dual shield wire fillers. This intermediate level welding techniques course focuses on shielded metal arc welding - SMAW, plasma arc cutting, oxygen-acetylene cutting, and metal grinding. Students will develop intermediate welding skills including gas metal arc welding using flux core and dual shield wire fillers. A special emphasis will be placed on proper fit-up and alignment for fillet and V-groove welds in the flat, vertical, and overhead positions.

DESL Diesel Technology

This course covers all aspects of diesel engines that are used in modern heavy equipment including marine, truck and stationary applications. Troubleshooting, repair, parts reuse, and engine rebuilding are included. One full day each week is spent in the lab rebuilding a diesel engine. Students can bring their own diesel engine to rebuild with the permission of the instructor.
