What is the SAB?

Here at the Student Activities Board we provide events that give students the opportunity to meet new people, make meaningful connections, learn something new and have fun!

SAB strives to provide a variety of high quality, engaging, and entertaining events reflective of the diverse needs and interests of our student body.

SAB is made up of committees (Pop Culture & Concerts, Cinema & Dance, Spirit & Traditions, and Collaborative Events) that are run by volunteer student members.

Any UAS student can join SAB! We invite you to come to our meetings and voice your ideas and opinions. We meet every Friday at 12:00 in Egan 224.

How can I get involved?

Come to an event, like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, join us at a meeting, or drop by the Activities Office in person. No matter how you choose to connect, we're excited to meet you! SAB has weekly meetings that you are welcome to attend. Our spring 2016 meeting time & location is every Friday at 12:00 in Egan 224.

What can I do to volunteer?

We always need volunteers to join our board and help plan, set-up, run, and tear-down events. Give us a call or stop by our office in Lower Mourant Room 129!

Polar Plunge

The 18th annual Polar Plunge occured on Feburary 6th, 2016 at 11:30am at Auke Bay Harbor, as part of UAS' Winterfest tradition. Students, staff, faculty, and community members alike gather each year to jump into the freezing cold waters of the harbor to be invigorated, prove their ruggedness, and raise money for a worthy cause! This year we raised over $2,200 for AWARE, a local domestic and sexual violence shelter and prevention/education center. If you're interested in participating in next year's Polar Plunge, come chat with us!

Spring Carnival

Spring Carnival is an end of the semester celebration for all students. There will be music, food, carnival games, prizes, and even a dunk tank! This year's event took place at the Noyse Pavilion on April 15th, 2016. 

Campus Kickoff

Campus Kickoff welcomes new and returning students to campus and celebrates the beginning of the new academic year. Campus Kickoff facilitates students' connections with each other, student organizations, and the UAS community through festive and interactive entertainment, information, and social experiences. It features an involvement fair, food, music, games, and prizes. This year's 6th annual event was held the first Friday after fall 2016 classes begin in Mourant Courtyard.

Humans vs. Zombies

Humans vs. Zombies (HvZ) is a week long game of moderated tag played at UAS once a year during the fall semester. Human players must remain vigilant and defend themselves with Nerf blasters to avoid being tagged by a growing zombie horde. More than 200 UAS students and faculty members participate in HvZ each year! Registration week, for the fall 2016 game, began September 19th & gameplay began September 25th, 2015. Sign up to play in the SAB office during registration week.
