Instructions for Applying
2016-2017 Academic Year

Everything must be completed by February 15, 2016 to be considered for any scholarships.

Applications received after February 15th, 2016 will be considered only if funds are available. Submitting an incomplete application or failing to adhere to the requirements will result in disqualification.

Please notify our office if you have trouble or cannot access the scholarship application.

FYI: The Scholarship Selection committees begin meeting after March 1 and may continue into the summer months. Every effort is made to notify successful applicants as soon as possible; however, it is impossible to send every unsuccessful applicant a response due to the volume of applications and scholarships. It is expected that the recipients:

  • Must carry 12 or more credits per semester (unless otherwise noted).
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA*
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

*Higher grade point averages may be required of some awards. Check individual requirements for maintaining scholarships you have received. There are a limited number of scholarships for part-time students. Please address your essay if you will not be attending full time.

Note:You MUST fill out the essay questions or you will not be considered for scholarships. The UAOnline application only needs to be filled out once for both UAS and UA foundation scholarships.

4. Complete the FAFSA

Complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov to be considered for Need-Based Scholarships and Campus-Based Aid

Note: If you or your parents haven't completed your 2012 income tax returns by this date, please complete the FAFSA using estimated income information and then correct the information once your taxes are filed.

Clarence and Verle Kramer Memorial Endowment

Description

To support the academic disciplines at the University of Alaska Southeast involved in training future generations of Alaska's forest resource managers.

  • Attending Full-Time
  • Environmental Science major
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Degree seeking student at the University of Alaska Southeast

Coeur Alaska - Kensington Gold Mine Environmental Science Award

Description

To provide financial assistance to Marine Biology and Environmental Science students at UAS.

Requirements

  • Attending Part-Time (6 credits or more) or Full-Time
  • Admitted to a Marine Biology or Environmental Science program at the University of Alaska Southeast
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average

Connie Boochever Endowment for Theatre

Description

This scholarship is to provide financial support to students in the theater programs at UAS.

Requirements

  • Attending at least Part-Time (6 credits or more)
  • Have taken a theatre course at UAS or have been involved in the threatre program at UAS
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Degree seeking student at the University of Alaska Southeast

Corey King Memorial Scholarship

Description

This scholarship was established to encourage students attending a vocational program at the University of Alaska Southeast.

Requirements

  • Must be a first-time freshman and
  • Must plan to attend classes on at least half-time basis during Fall 2017 semester
  • Be admitted to a vocational degree program at the Juneau Campus at UAS

Delta Kappa Gamma Carol Koski Memorial Scholarship

Description

To reward academic excellence and to support students choosing a career in education.

Emma Marks Memorial for Alaska Native Languages

Description

scholarship for the study of native languagesThe Emma Marks Memorial for Alaska Native Languages provides financial support for the study of Alaska Native Languages. Recipient must be a sophomore or higher.

Filipino Community Scholarship

Description

To provide scholarship support for tuition and other related education expenses to students who are, or whose parent or guardian is, a member in good standing of the Alaska Non-Profit Corporation, Filipino Community, Inc. attending the University of Alaska Southeast.

Frederick and Carol Eastaugh Scholarship

Description

To provide scholarsihps for full or part-time students pursuing a degree at the University of Alaska Southeast.

Requirements

For this scholarship you must also complete the the UAS Supplemental Application to describe how their career and educational goals will benefit Southeast Alaska

  • Part-Time (6 or more credits) or Full Time student
  • 2.0 minimum GPA 
  • Admitted into a degree or certificate program attending the University of Alaska Southeast 

Gaile F. Haynes Memorial Scholarship

Description

The Gaile F. Haynes Memorial scholarship provides assistance to University of Alaska Southeast students who have been released from incarceration in the Johnson Youth Center within 10 years or applying for this scholarship. Assistance must be only for tuition, class fees, books and supplies for classes in which the student is registered.

Requirements

For this scholarship you must also complete the the UAS Supplemental Application and provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher, preferable a teacher from the Johnson Youth Center.

Gastineau Rotary Scholarship-General Scholarship

Description

To provide financial support for Juneau High School graduates entering any degree program at UAS.

Requirements

  • Attending at least Part-Time (6 credits or more)
  • First-Time Freshman admitted to any degree program at the University of Alaska Southeast
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average

George Masek Memorial Scholarship

Description

To provide financial assistance for Business students at the University of Alaska Southeast.

Requirements

Must have a 3.0 GPA and be enrolled at the UAS Juneau campus with at least 6 credit hours.

Glacier Highway Electric Association Scholarship

Description

To provide scholarship assistance to residents of Juneau in consideration of the 43-year relationship that Glacier Highway Electric Association had with the Juneau residents as a provider of electric power.

Requirements

For this scholarship you must also complete the the UAS Supplemental Application.

Icicle Seafoods Career Ed/Dual Enrollment scholarships - UAS

Description

To provide scholarship assistance for Petersburg High School students who are enrolled in Career Education or dual enrollment classes at the University of Alaska Southeast.

Requirements

Recipient must be current or previous graduates of Petersburg High School who are enrolled in Career Education or dual enrollment classes at the University of Alaska Southeast with a minimum GPA of 2.0.

International Peace Scholarship

Description

International Peace Scholarship

To foster cross-cultural learning and understanding by providing needs-based scholarship support for students graduating from high schools or transferring from colleges in foreign
countries attending the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus.

NOTE: This scholarship is intended for students who travel to Juneau, Alaska from their home countries to physically take classes on campus and engage in the community and is not intended for international distance students.

Requirements

  • Recipients shall be students graduating from their foreign high school (or completing the appropriate secondary education proficiency exam as required for admission to the university) or have transferred to UAS from their home country to attend UAS Juneau Campus
  • Attending at least part time (6 or more credits)
  • Minimum GPA 2.0

Jean Gross Memorial Scholarship

Description

The Jean Gross Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance for Computer, Information and Office Systems (CIOS) students on the Juneau campus of the University of Alaska Southeast.

Requirements

  • Attending at least Part-Time (6 credits or more)
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Be enrolled in Computer, Information and Office Systems (CIOS) or Computer Information System (CIS) courses
  • Degree seeking student at the University of Alaska Southeast

Jean Kline Memorial Scholarship

Description

Jean Kline Memorial ScholarshipApplicants must be pursuing a Business degree at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating financial need.

Jean Kline Memorial Scholarship

Description

To provide assistance to students in an undergraduate or graduate program in the School of Management at the University of Alaska Southeast.

Requirements

Applicants must be pursuing a Business degree at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus. Minimum GPA is a 2.0 for Undergraduates and a 3.0 for Graduates. Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating financial need.

John Rutherford Noyes Memorial Scholarship

Description

To provide scholarships for full-time studeets attending the Univeristy of Alaska Southeast who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demostrate motivation, plus academic and leadership potential.

  • Science or Education Major
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Degree seeking student at the University of Alaska Southeast

Juneau Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

Requirements

For this scholarship you must also complete the the UAS Supplemental Application to describe their commitment to the development of business and commerce in Southeast Alaska.

  • Applicants must be committed to the development of business and commerce in Southeast Alaska, and must demonstrate motivation, and academic and leadership potential. 
  • Have at least a 2.8 Cumulative GPA 
  • Attending Full-Time
  • Degree seeking student at the University of Alaska Southeast

Juneau Elks Lodge Endowed Scholarship

Description

This scholarship is open to any student who is, or whose parent or guardian is, a member in good standing of the Juneau Elks Lodge #420 or Elks Lodge in Southeast Alaska (Ketchikan, Wrangell, Petersburg, Sitka, Haines or Skagway), and who plans to attend the University of Alaska Southeast as a full-time student.

Requirements

Preference of selections will be given to students whose parent or guardian is a member in good standing of the Juneau Elks Lodge #420, then to students whose parents or guardian is a member in good standing of an Elks lodge in the Southeast Alaska District.

Minimum GPA 2.5


Juneau Empire Scholarship

Description

To provide financial assistance for tuition and other educational expenses to students attending the University of Alaska Southeast.

  • Attending Full-Time
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Degree seeking student at the University of Alaska Southeast

Juneau Garden Club Scholarship

Requirements

For this scholarship you must also complete the the UAS Supplemental Application to describe their intended career horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, conservation, forestry, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental control, city planning, land management, alternate energy, and/or an allied field.

Juneau Rotary Scholarship Endowment

Description

The Juneau Rotary would like to provide assistance for Southeast Alaska residents to attend the University of Alaska Southeast.

Requirements

  • Be a Southeast Alaska resident
  • Be admitted to any degree program offered at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5

Juneau School District Tuition Waiver

Description

This scholarship is open to students who have been honored under the 2016-2017 Student Recognition Program at JDHS, TMHS, and Yaakoosge Daakahidi High School and who are entering any degree program offered at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus.

Requirements

Applicants must be nominated as a Student of the Month at JDHS, TMHS or Yaakoosge, demonstrate high academic achievement, leadership potential, and goal-oriented motivation.

Kevin Sanders Memorial Scholarship

Description

To provide scholarship support for students participating in visitor industry programs. Not specific to degree or Regents' certificate programs.

Key Bank Scholarship for Business and Economics

Description

To provide scholarships for University of Alaska Southeast Business and Economics majors.

Marshall L. and Lois A. Scholarship

Requirements

Recipient must be a full-time Undergraduate degree seeking student at the University of Alaska Southeast with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Preference will be given to non-traditional age student-possibly supporting a family and trying to obtain a degree.

Memorial Scholarship - UAS

Requirements

Recipient must be a full-time Undergraduate degree seeking student at the University of Alaska Southeast with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a full-time Graduate degree seeking student at the University of Alaska Southeast with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Mike Miller Scholarship

Description

To assist undergraduate student(s) pursuing a bachelor of liberal arts degree and with the secondary field of communications at the University of Alaska Southeast.

PEO Chapter D Edna Williams Continuing Education Scholarship

Description

PEO Chapter D Edna Williams Continuing Education ScholarshipThe PEO Chapter D Edna Williams Continuing Education Scholarship provides financial aid to a degree-seeking student, returning to pursue an undergraduate degree after an interruption in their education. PEO Chapter D Jean Harlow Career Development Scholarship

Description

The PEO Chapter D Jean Harlow Career Development Scholarship provides financial aid to students in a vocational or technical degree or certificate program at the UAS Juneau campus.

Requirements

  • Attending at least Part-Time (6 credits or more)
  • Be admitted to a vocational or technical degree or certificate program at the UAS Juneau Campus
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0

PEO Chapter D Performing and Visual Arts Scholarship

Requirements

  • Attending Full-Time
  • Demonstrate an interest and involvement in the performing and/or visual arts 
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.0

PEO Chapter G Scholarship

Description

To provide financial assistance for tuition and other educational expenses to junior, senior or graduate students attending the UAS Juneau Campus.

Requirements

Applicants must be:

  • Junior, senior or graduate student, or in the second year of a 2 year certificate program
  • Resident of Alaska
  • Full-time student attending UAS Juneau campus
  • Have a minimum GPA of a 3.0
  • Demonstrate motivation, academic achievement leadership potential
  • Must be in good academic standing 

Roger Boyden Memorial Scholarship

Description

To assist undergraduate student(s) majoring in Biology.

Requirements

  • Attending full-time (12 credits or more)
  • High School Graduate, or equivalent
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Admitted to the Biology program at the University of Alaska Southeast

Roger Lang Memorial Scholarship

Description

To assist and enable Southeast residents to pursue education opportunities within the University of Alaska Southeast.

Requirements

Recipient must:

  • be full-time undergraduate or graduate student and maintain a 2.5 GPA as an undergraduate and a 3.0 as a graduate
  • plan to be admitted in or already be in good academic standing
  • be a resident of Southeast Alaska
  • at a minimum, be a high school graduate or equivalent, and about to enter or be enrolled in the University of Alaska Southeast 

Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating financial need.

Southeast Conference/Coeur Alaska/Hecla Greens Creek Vocational Education Scholarship

Requirements

Recipient must: 

  • be a resident of Southeast Alaska
  • be a full time student attending the University of Alaska Southeast in a technology related program, such as power or heavy diesel maintenance with a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • have a high school diploma or G.E.D.  
  • have a long term interest in applying his or her major in the mining industry

Recipient should demonstrate motivation, and academic and leadership potential.


Southeast Conference Scholarship

Requirements

Applicants must be Southeast Alaska residents who are enrolled at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau, Ketchikan or Sitka Campus. Applicants should demonstrate motivation, academic and leadership potential, and must be in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Southeast Roundup Scholarship

Description

To provide scholarship opportunities for Southeast Alaskans to attend the University of Alaska Southeast and pursue business/vocational/technical related programs.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Be a Southeast Alaska resident
  • Be a full time UAS student
  • A Freshman majoring in Business

Student Government Scholarship

Description

This scholarship is open to students who are admitted to any degree program at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus and have scholastic achievement.

Requirements

Undergraduate applicants must

  • have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Be admitted to a degree or certificate program at the UAS-Juneau Campus

Graduate applicants must

  • have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
  • Be admitted to a degree or certificate program at the UAS-Juneau Campus

Tuxedo Junction Endowment

Description

To assist full-time students in undergraduate or graduate programs at the University of Alaska Southeast.

Requirements

Recipient must be a full-time Undergraduate degree seeking student at the University of Alaska Southeast with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Preference will be given to students demonstrating high academic performance.

Tuxedo Junction Scholarship

Description

To assist full-time students in undergraduate or graduate programs at the University of Alaska Southeast.

Requirements

Applicants must be:

  • Enrolled full-time
  • Have and maintain a GPA of a 2.0
  • Be admitted into any degree prgram at the University of Alaska Southeast
  • Demonstrate high academic performance

UAS Alumni Association Scholarship

Requirements

Preference will be given to Southeast Alaska residents who plan to stay in Alaska after graduation

UAS Hecla Greens Creek Environmental Science Scholarship

Description

To provide financial assistance for tuition and other related educational expenses to Environmental Science majors attending the University of Alaska Southeast

Requirements

Recipient must be a Junior or Senior in class standing and an Environmental Science major at UAS.

UAS Hecla Greens Creek Mine Training

Description

To provide program and scholarship assistance for the UAS Center for Mine Training.

University of Alaska Southeast Icicle Seafoods Endowed Scholarship

Description

To provide financial assistance for tuition, books, supplies, and other related educational expenses to students who are enrolled in the University of Alaska Southeast.

Requirements

Recipients must be residents of Petersburg, Alaska, or employees of Petersburg Fisheries, or Icicle Seafoods Fishermen.  Applicants must self identify their relationship to Petersburg Fisheries and Icicle Seafoods in the scholarship application personal essay.  Applicant names will be forwarded to Icicle Seafoods for verification of employment.

Verna M. Carrigan Scholarship

Description

To provide scholarships at the Juneau campus for students from Southeast Alaska, with a preference for students from the Juneau and Douglas areas.

Requirements

  • Attending Full-Time
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Degree seeking student at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus

Vo-Tech Programs Endowment

Requirements

Applicants must be admitted to a vocational or technical program at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau, Ketchikan or Sitka Campus.

W. Lloyd Gallagher Memorial Scholarship

Description

This scholarship is to support Baccalaureate and Master Degree students in the field of Public Administration at the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau Campus.

Requirements

For this scholarship you must also complete the the UAS Supplemental Application to provide a short biogrphy amd statement of goals and objectives in the field of public administration, and provide a letter of reference submitted to the UAS Financial Aid Office.

  • Attending Full-Time (gradute 9 credits)
  • Admitted to the Masters of Public Administration degree program at the University of Alaska Southeasat Juneau Campus
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5

Wards Cove Scholarship

Description

This scholarship is to provide assitance to students attending the University of Alaska Southeast who are pursuing an education in the filed of science.

Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a residents of Southeast Alaska
  • Plan to stay in Alaska after graduation
  • Must be a Science Major at the University of Alaska Southeast
  • Have and maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average and
  • Attend at least full-time each semester

Wells Fargo Bank Scholarship

Description

To promote workforce development by providing scholarship assistance at the University of Alaska Southeast to Alaska's next generation of bankers and financial managers.

Requirements

Recipient must be a full-time student attending UAS, majoring Business, Accounting or a related field of study. Recipient cannot be a convicted felon, as State and Federal laws restrict such individuals from being members of the industries listed in the agreement revision. For this scholarship you must also complete the the UAS Supplemental Application.
