Can't complete a class? Discuss options with an advisor to determine which choice is best for you. You must complete an Add/Drop/Change Request Form to initiate any of the actions below.
Drop, Withdraw or Audit Policies
WithdrawWithdrawing from a class will result in a “W” grade on your transcript. Meet with your advisor before withdrawing - financial aid may be impacted. For semester length courses, students may withdraw after the drop period, through the tenth week of the semester. Short classes have prorated deadlines. Check the academic calendar for dates.
AuditAuditing is registering for a class for interest only and not earning a grade or academic credit. “AU” is listed on your transcript. For semester length courses you can only change to or from audit status during the first two weeks of the semester. Check the academic calendar for dates. Short classes have prorated deadlines.
Refunds are given for dropped courses but not for withdrawals. Students who are forced to drop courses for reasons beyond their control can complete a Petition Form to request a refund from the campus that offered the course. An incomplete grade may be an option for students who are doing well in a course but, for reasons beyond their control, can't finish the course in the normal time frame. Incompletes require instructor permission.
