Anthropology & Sociology

Priscilla SchulteThe University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan Anthropology Department offers courses that support students seeking certificates, associate degrees and bachelor degree programs. Courses are offered both locally and by distance mechanisms, both by audio-conference and web-based format.

Anthropology courses are designed to support students seeking the bachelor of liberal arts degrees. The courses are offered each semester. Each spring, UAS Ketchikan partners with the U.S. Forest Service to offer a week long field trip to culturally significant areas of Southeast Alaska to survey and conduct research with students. UAS Ketchikan and the USFS have worked together for over 20 years to offer this one-of-a-kind experience for students in Dr. Schulte's course.

Sociology courses are also offered each semester to complement the offerings for students in degree programs. In addition to Anthropology and Sociology, Dr. Schulte also has oversight responsibility for Psychology and Education courses offered by UAS Ketchikan. She also teaches Multicultural Education for master-level student teachers.

For more information, contact Priscilla Schulte, Professor of Anthropology & Sociology at 907-228-4545.
