Radar Students now have many options for Renewal, including our online renewal course wherein you study online and come in to test at our Ketchikan or Juneau campuses or AVTEC in Seward.  For regular radar students, after you register for a radar class, please access our online study materials.  Spending time with this online material will give you a big head start in class.  This is the same material used in our USCG approved Online Radar Renewal course.  If after reviewing the material you decide to take the online course, please call 228-4511 to change your registration.  Click HERE for instructions on how to access the online materials.

AMHS Ferry M/V Columbia

The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) Marine Transportation Department is based in Ketchikan and offers maritime classes in Ketchikan, Juneau, Sitka and outlying communities.  We serve students who seek a deck department career path, from entry level to deck officer, with U.S. Coast Guard approved instruction. We also offer coursework for individuals wishing to advance their personal knowledge and skills related to vessel operation and navigation.  We have a staff of two full-time Maritime Professors, one based in Ketchikan and one in Juneau.  They are augmented by a large pool of well-qualified Adjunct Instructors and supported by a part-time Maritime Coordinator.
